scarpa via: an evening with sabina savage

March 26, 2026

scarpa via is simple in theory: take the connections scarpa has spent years building, and share them with our customers.
discover the designers behind the work, the stories behind the pieces, and the rooms where collections originate before they arrive in-store. this winter for our second scarpa via trip—and first domestic excursion—we took a small group, led by amy and capi, to soho to spend an evening with sabina savage.

the group gathered at sabina's new york showroom on a winter evening, champagne already poured. the space was set with raw concrete, sisal rugs, pine tables, flowers, and sabina's source drawings propped on easels around the room.

sabina talked us through her process for each collection, starting with months of research before ever picking up her pencil. she scours museums, libraries, and galleries across the world, jotting sketches and notes that culminate in the story of each illustration—an animal protagonist against a backdrop of cultural and historical references.
she hand-draws every design herself, always starting with the eye to set the mood, personality, and narrative of her characters. before rendering her designs onto silk made in england, she plays with color to ensure the illustrations pop in all their colorations. her scarves are finished with hand-rolled and sewn edges.
sabina showed us her spring 2026 collection, fairytale di firenze, a pastel-toned, storybook interpretation of renaissance florence. then she gave us an early preview of her autumn 2026 collection, softest song, her take on the symbol-laden artwork of china’s song dynasty in a palette of burnished hues.

from the showroom, we moved to la mercerie, filled with warm light, white linens, and beautiful stemware. over a long table, we settled into good food and easy conversation. the founders of lafayette 148 and frank & eileen were a few tables over, so they stopped by to say hello, then stayed for dessert.
that’s the thing about scarpa via. we plan what we can, and leave room for the rest to unfold. there’s more on the calendar, explore scarpa via here.
