team scarpa: 2013 – 2018

jane

what are you up to these days?
living in brooklyn and working in product management but spending the winter traveling around korea and japan - hello from seoul!
can you share a favorite scarpa memory?
I went to scarpa during move-in weekend to get jack rogers, hunter rainboots and a longchamp tote in 2010 (the unofficial uva uniform at the time lol). little did I know I would be working there a few years later.
scarpa life lessons?
established these important life tenets:
cost per wear
in the name of the tibi, the totême and dries van noten
bloody marys rule
any scarpa pieces you still have?
blundstones, tibi brancusi jeans, and jerome dreyfuss banane bag are in the weekly rotation. still have and cherish my utility canvas quilted coat, margaret solow emerald slice necklace, gushlow & cole gilet and the aforementioned longchamp tote. wore my favorite black crane linen jumper for years until the straps came off (sewed them back on and got another summer out of it). also got a toteme blazer during my last visit to scarpa and I feel [bleeping] invincible every time I wear it.
where will you be this holiday?
kyoto, japan

how did you get started at scarpa?
I started during my fourth year at uva, writing blog posts! (remember “blogs”?) after graduation I began working on all things marketing and creative direction. during grad school I continued part time helping with marketing, the newsletter and the website.
what are you up to now?
I split my time between new york city and new haven, where I work as the managing editor for the yale review.
can you share a favorite scarpa moment?
so many. every staff holiday dinner party in the store; every lookbook shoot.
any scarpa pieces you still have?
black fiorentini + baker boots that I still wear every fall. And, actually, I still have my first pair of blundstones which are almost ten years old (!)
where will you be this holiday?
I’ll be in san francisco visiting my sister and her husband.

what’s the secret to giving a good gift?
for those closest to you on your gift list, pay attention to what they say throughout the year. (“I really need to replace this rug in the kitchen.”) also: everyone always likes a nice candle.
