dreaming of fur

When we received our batch of Gushlow & Cole furs last Wednesday, it was a lovely early October day… and a mild 88 degrees outside.  Hardly fur weather, but that doesn’t mean one couldn’t at least dream about donning these pieces. Emma Gushlow and Katrina Cole founded their eponymous brand in London in 2003.  Their clothing and accessories are crafted using traditional English shearling manufacturing methods. Shearling refers to a lambskin pelt that has been minimally processed, typically only shorn once.  The result produces incredibly supple leather and a stunningly uniform fur.  All of Gushlow & Cole’s pieces are ethically produced, using only by product, and everything is handmade in England.  (There is even a small tag under the label, marking who assembled the fur, and you can read the bios of these craftspeople on Gushlow & Cole’s website.)  Additionally, Scarpa is one of only several stores in the states to carry this line.  But hurry—these pieces have already begun to fly off the racks, and with the temperature dropping this week, it’ll certainly be fur weather soon enough.
