we’re thrilled to announce the arrival of a line new to us, though certainly not new to the shoescape: pedro garcía. founded in 1925 by pedro garcía, the brand is a family business that now has been handed down to the third generation of shoe designers, mila and the third pedro. the earliest iteration of the pedro garcía brand was a shop for children’s shoes in elda, spain, but the company soon began manufacturing for larger, international footwear companies and distributers.
directed by the second pedro, mila and pedro III’s father, pedro garcía made its way to the states in the 1960’s, under its own name, as well as under the monikers of caressa, selecta, and allure. bergdorf goodman and henri bendel, among other new york specialty stores, carried pedro garcía through the 1970’s and ‘80’s. in the early 1990’s, the third generation of garcía shoemakers took over all major aspects of the business, from design to distribution, making pedro garcía become a truly international enterprise. mila and pedro , with the guidance of their father, have expanded the brand to thirty-six countries, and they opened the pedro garcía flagship store in madrid in 2006.
we just received our stock of pedro garcía shoes in the mail last week. we have heels, booties, high-heeled clogs, and lace-up oxfords—really, anything you’d like. they’re dressy, but “edgy” as amy says—just edgy enough—with their unlikely, angular, and beautiful cuts and suede and leather bodies. they’ll fit the bill for most of the year, and they’re versatile enough to wear with the dressiest of dress-up clothes or the most dressed-down of jeans, as beanie shows in the photographs above. stop by and check out our newest, shiniest, and spunkiest line—they’re going fast!
