carlo shines on the road
carlo reached our peeps near and far. highlights from his travels include the market at grelen, union market in DC, and several stops in virginia beach. he even got to hang in front of the store for our summer sale pop-up with willow knows.
the great mount north barracks melting competition
though it seems a far cry from our balmy december, snow falls in late february left a sizable mound in the north barracks parking lot. on the excellent suggestion of a customer amy lowell, we decided to turn our new mammoth pile of ice into a competition. whoever guessed the correct melting date would receive a $50 gift card. we received over 75 guesses, which stretched all the way into may. only a short 3 weeks later the mound was nothing but a puddle, and emily hatch claimed the prize for march 27th.
shoe of the year | the pedro garcia "perry" sneaker
fashions fade, but the sneaker trend is eternal. we've seen our fair share of kicks, but none seemed to outshine the perry sneaker from pedro garcia. it's everything we love about pedro (gorgeous suede and total comfort) with retro details like over-sized laces and a contrasting white rubber sole. the truest testament to this shoe's "best of" standing? more than half of team scarpa had to get these sneaks for themselves.
seven volumes of scout
we were thrilled to be a part of the seventh volume of the scout guide charlottesville. the scout guide now celebrates small businesses in over 50 cities across the country. go scout!
new to our shelves
from sabina savage's scarves to jewelry from communion by joy and brooke gregson, officine creative oxfords & boots to lauren manoogian's sweaters, we welcomed the incredible talent of so many designers into our fold this year.
we love food (and charlottesville) a lot
what a great year for new food spots in town! some of our favorites: lampo (ok, technically 2014, but the opening of their patio was a 2015 highlight!), timbercreek market, the juice laundry, and the pie chest.
we wish you a bright 2016!
